Centenary of Cervantes's Death

Centenary of Cervantes's Death

Commemorations
01 January - 31 December 2016

In 2016 it will be 400 years since the death of Miguel de Cervantes. For this purpose, Acción Cultural Española has put together a programme of commemorative activities that will be held throughout the year.

AC/E is part of the national committee for the celebration of the centenary, which brings together representatives of the state and institutions with a particular connection with the life and work of Miguel de Cervantes to devise the projects included in the programme of activities and ensure that the expenses tie in with the objectives and plans of the commemorative.

Miguel de Cervantes, the real-life person, has often been obscured by Don Quixote, the main character of his most famous novel. The centenary sets out to analyse and disseminate the outstanding life story of the brilliant writer and his oeuvre. It pays tribute to the man behind the work and his life on the four hundredth anniversary of his death.
