Cervantes de Avellaneda

The new play "Cervantes de Avellaneda" by Spanish author Jordi Casanovas, is co-produced by GALA Theatre of Washington DC, and Accion Sur of Madrid. The play explores the life of Cervantes and his rivalry with Lope de Vega. Spanish artist Jose Luis Arellano will direct and the production will feature several leading Spanish artists, among them the composer David Peralto, as well as actors from GALA's company.

The world premiere will take place at GALA on September 8, 2016. "Cervantes de Avellanda" will be on stage at GALA through October 2, with a total of 22 performances, six of which are for academic institutions. Following the student matinee programs there will be talk-backs in which the Spanish artists share their experience and knowledge with students, teachers, and experts in the field.
Following its production at GALA, the show will tour.
