Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the British Council are organising this exchange residency for up-and-coming writers with an established reputation. A British writer will spend a period in residence at the University of Alcalá, and a Spanish writer will enjoy a residency at the Queen Mary University in London.
The Queen Mary University is linked to the international project Global Shakespeare, a historical and contemporary study on Shakespeare through criticism, performances, history and the media, from television to digital reproduction.
The University of Alcalá de Henares is the venue for the famous Festival de la Palabra and for the Miguel de Cervantes literary prize in Spanish, which is the highest distinction awarded to the creative work of Spanish and Spanish-American writers who have made a significant contribution to enriching literary heritage in the Spanish language.
The winner of the Residency at the Queen May University is Andrés Barba. Special mention has been done to Blanca Domènech and José C. Vales.
Caroline Ann Brothers is the winner of the writer's residency at the University of Alcalá. Simon David Quarton Wroe and Natasha Katherine Pulley received a special mention of honor by the jury.
