On the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the EU, this outdoor artistic project carried out to be exhibited in the Plaza de España in Brussels aims to delve into the concept of union, through the creation of a collaborative mural in which three artists of different nationalities participate: Mónika Kárándi (Hungary), Laura Dauchet (Belgium) y Blanca Gracia (Spain).
This proposal wants to highlight the craft skills of ancient Spanish ceramics while presenting a story about multiculturalism from the prism that three contemporary artists give to urban flora. Any citizen's garden is the most contemporary version of the idea of union and mixture, a hybrid of diverse origins, a place full of mutations, which permeates and constantly communicates with us from inside the cities, helping us remember the cyclical time. In resume, it harmonizes us and connects us with nature.
Many cultures have used flora to create symbols of their values, beliefs and mythologies. The representation of nature is also a constant in the history of art. This fascination is linked to the concept of union and harmony between human beings and the natural environment, biodiversity and the passage of time. This new two-dimensional garden is a good excuse to talk about some of the founding ideas of the European Union.
