More than fifty specialists will present in León, over the course of three days, the latest research into the life, works, reception, influences and significance of Tomás Luis de Victoria, one of the greatest musicians of the Modern Age, who today enjoys a privileged position within the canon of Western music.
The convention, the proceedings of which will be published in 2012, is organised in the form of a series of sessions featuring presentations, debates and roundtables, which will serve as a forum to debate, dissemination and update of the latest knowledge about the composer. With the aim of providing a channel for the research in progress, the convention is also open to the presentation of free communications connected with Victoria and the music of his era.
The international convention will be rounded off with two concerts to be staged at the León Auditorium on 8 November and the Church of Santa María la Real on 11 November, respectively.
