We could have it all

We could have it all

Tranzit.ro is organising the exhibition, with which AC/E is collaborating through its mobility awards.

This project by Itziar Barrio started out as part of the international symposium on public art that was held in Bilbao in March 2012, produced by the ENPAP (European Network of Public Art Producers) and coordinated by Consonni. It was first presented at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao.

In the project Itziar Barrio borrows from popular music as a starting point for exploring language, politics and sexuality. Based on the successful single Rolling In The Deep by British pop star Adele, it is a sort of tribute to the singer’s resounding worldwide success while also examining the almost mythical notion of plenitude to which the song refers. The microphone as an instrument of power materialises many of these reflections. It is this upright device that precisely allows voices, thoughts and ideas to be amplified, becoming a symbol of the public sphere and of the transmission of a tale. Two narrators with narrative tools and their own languages (English and Basque) reveal a hidden story, whether or not fictional, whether or not credible.

At Tranzit.ro, the project began with a preliminary investigation starting in February to adapt it to the Romanian context.
