For 10 days, starting in the first week of June, the calendar of events is particularly rich and varied, featuring shows by leading Romanian and foreign companies. Street performances, theatre and dance, ballet, contemporary dance, puppet theatre, circus, light shows, music, pantomime, lectures, debates, photography and painting exhibitions, book launches, installations and workshops transform the city into a veritable world cultural capital.
Sibiu International Theatre Festival has been staging flamenco shows for the past 10 years as part of the focus on Spain aimed at raising its audiences’ awareness of the importance and particular characteristics of this artistic expression that has been designated intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
AC/E is collaborating in this year’s festival by supporting the participation of one of the foremost practitioners of flamenco dancing in Spain: Jesús Carmona, who is presenting his show Cuna negra y blanca (Black and white crib). In it the choreographer goes from emptiness to plenitude, from positive to negative. The repertoire includes trilla, fandango, farruca, soleá, nana, sevillanas, garrotín and romance.
