Specific to Japan and part of AC/E’s Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture (PICE), they are designed to familiarise Japanese planners, managers and curators with the Spanish cultural scene, thereby encouraging them toincorporate Spanish creators into their activities.
The call for Residences in Tokyo Wonder Site and Matadero Madrid for creators working in the field of design, architecture and visual arts took place in July 2013.
AC/E offered two residences for artists and creators from Madrid to travel to Tokyo and reside in Tokyo Wonder Site in two different periods which were given to:
- Esaú Acosta: Residency between 3 September and 1 Octobercomo artista en residencia, entre el 3 de septiembre y el 1 de octubre.
- Luis Úrculo: Residency between 4 October and 2 November, 2013.
These artists, in turn, held a residency at Matadero Madrid from 2 October to 15 December and from 3 November to 15 December respectively, making a public presentation of their work at Matadero Madrid from 12 to 15 December.
