Me he puesto a quemar los cuerpos, an activity involving dance and new stage languages, will be implemented in three artists’ residencies (Uruguay, Mexico and Spain) in connection with the host community in each case (Sala Abierta) and featuring stage performances for audiences at festivals.
Under the umbrella of EINCE, Me he puesto a quemar los cuerpos is a project for stage dialogue run jointly by the Mexican company Laboratoriopuntod and Spanish creators such as Raquel Tomàs, a playwright connected with the Graner centre for creation. The project is based on an analysis and staging of how the political and economic discourses that have marked the direction of Mexico and Spain since the early 1990s have taken shape and how they have led to the current state of affairs. It also examines how we position ourselves with respect to history and which bodies, present or absent, are involved in building the collective imaginary shaped by power.
In 2014 two research residences were held in Mexico: in Guadalajara in May and in Querétaro in September. These two spaces examined problems and lines of research and creation that provided a point of departure for the 2015 residency at the Centro Cultural de España in Montevideo (May 2015) and the one to be held in Mexico in November.
AC/E is supporting the participation of the Spanish artists in the residencies and presentations in Uruguay and Mexico through its Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture.
