The fourth Libros Mutantes (Mutant Books) independent publishing fair is one of the most important dissemination and research projects in Spain centring on the world of self-publishing (fanzines, art and design publications, independent magazines and artist books) For three days visitors will have the chance to come into contact with more than forty international publishing projects, learn about their creators and view or buy fanzines, experimental publications and artist books. The programme of accompanying activities includes live music, specialist workshops and the Mutant Perspectives cycle, a series of talks by designers and professionals of the publishing world. Young visitors can also enjoy a reading corner featuring a selection of international children’s publications. Once again, the ‘fanzine to take away’ activity will be held on Sunday the 28th, where visitors can experiment with various self-publishing techniques to produce their own publications.
AC/E is collaborating with La Casa Encendida in two ways: by co-publishing a bilingual catalogue to showcase these artists and the fair abroad; and by inviting equivalent foreign event planners to take part in the Madrid fair in order to make these artists known and encourage exchanges between them.
