The Pixelatl animated film, videogame and comic festival is the main Mexican event that provides a meeting place for Latin American creators and the global animated film, comic and videogame industries. It brings together directors, professionals, students and lovers of all areas of the audiovisual sector for 6 days to show their work to the general public, promotes the exchange experiences between creators and seeks possible alliances for the future.
The 2016 edition will focus particularly on how stories are told in motion pictures, on TV and in comic strips. We therefore wish to boost Spain’s participation in order to include not only developers and directors of animated films but also comic strip writers and publishers.
AC/E is supporting the following activities through the Mobility grants:
- Presentation of Atrapa la Bandera (Capture the flag) and question and answer session with its producer Nico Matji after the screening.
- Lecture on the ‘Making of’ of Atrapa la Bandera delivered by Nico Matji (executive producer), who will talk about challenges in film production and the new future projects the studio is preparing (Tadeo Jones 2).
- Survey of Mexican production projects seeking possible partners in Spain and invitation to the international community attending Festival Pixelatl to take part in the next edition of 3D Wire in Segovia (José Luis Farias). José Luis Farias, director and founder of the animated film festival 3DWire and the initiative Bridging The Gap, which take place every year in Segovia and Valencia respectively, will be in charge of reviewing the projects of Mexican animated film studios in order to present them at the next edition of 3DWire. This will likewise promote among the international community the important festival that takes place in Segovia so as to encourage more people to attend the event and attract the Latin American market.
- Lecture: ‘Del mundo visual a la narrativa de la experiencia’ (From the visual world to the narrative of experience) delivered by Carlos Arenas. In this lecture/workshop Professor Carlos Arenas will explain how a story is built in physical platforms and media from images or audiovisual content. The aim of this talk is to show how stories migrate to different media and Carlos’s vast experience will allow him to transport the audience the various exhibitions he has held (Nantes, Valencia, etc.). The idea is that by the end of the lecture the audience will be capable of building stories through exhibition devices and elements.
