Festival of New Spanish Cinema 2015

Festival of New Spanish Cinema 2015

The Festival of New Spanish Cinema (FNSC) is one of the most important Spanish film festivals in North America. Present in ten cities during 2015, the festival is organised by Pragda, a distributor of Spanish and Latin American films in the United States and enjoys the support of AC/E through the PICE programme.

Since its creation in 2008, the FNSC has grown steadily, attracting a wider audience every year and reaching more North American cities. Nowadays the festival attracts an audience of more than 15,000 people during its tour of various North American cities and its promotion reaches more than 500,000. It appeals above all to a North American audience, though the presence of the Spanish and Latin American communities in each city is also important.

The main aims of the Festival of New Spanish Cinema are: to secure an international platform for showing Spanish contemporary cinema in the United States and Canada; to promote a modern and diverse image of Spain through high-quality films; to provide opportunities to emerging artists; to produce and consolidate cultural exchange underpinned by North American cultural organisations; and to create a dialogue and cultural exchange between the public at large and the university.
