Festival of New Spanish Cinema 2014

Festival of New Spanish Cinema 2014

PRAGDA created the Festival of New Spanish Cinema (FNSC) in 2008 in order to take the best of Spanish cinema to America. Thanks to the major success of previous years’ events, the festival will be held for the sixth time in 2014.

A series of feature-length films produced in 2012 and 2013 will be shown at FNSC 2014. They reflect the diversity and creativity of recent Spanish cinema and are an excellent representation of our country’s filmmakers, as they span a broad range of genres and styles: all kinds of feature-length films will be screened, from major productions with a large budget to traditional narrative films and debut films of up-and-coming directors.

In every city where it is to be shown, the FNSC will be organised in collaboration with a local institution and will include monographs on directors or actors. What is more, in addition to local counterparts and universities, master classes will be held where guest Spanish filmmakers will talk to a group of students on their career, their art, their work and shooting in general. For this sixth festival the FNSC will be travelling to Chicago and Miami. The mobility awards of the PICE will allow Elías León Siminiani to travel to Chicago to present his work and Luis Tosar to travel to Miami to survey his film career.
