Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca 2017

Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca 2017

The Huesca International Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Spain devoted to short films. A total of 80 shorts will be screened at this year’s edition, the 45th. The films will be selected from among a total of 31 countries across Europe, America and Asia.

The films featured in the official section are divided into three competitions as follows:  International, Ibero-American, and Documentary. The festival, which will run from 9 to 17 June, is a showcase for talented new filmmakers and will include 17 international premieres.

The 44th (was 45 above) edition of the festival will be complemented by professional, educational and fun activities, and exhibitions that will submerge the city in the magic of the seventh art. It will retain some of the elements that have proved successful in past editions, such as "All the Children to the Festival", which brings together almost 1,000 children in the Olimpia Theater; or Gastrocine, a culinary experience marinated with various short films where gastronomy plays an important role.

The main innovations this year can be found in the professional programme. The festival will open a space for the presentation of projects where, among other initiatives, the film rally "Desafío Buñuel" will be presented and the first images of "Under the Skin of the Wolf", a film by Samu Fuentes, will be sceened. This film takes place for the most part in the province of Huesca, with Mario Casas and Irene Escolar. It also consolidates a professional meeting of the Aragonese film industry. AC/E is supporting the presence of international programmers by awarding Visitor grants through its Programme for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture.
