Honorary concert: Cantata "Juan Sebastián Elcano"

The concert is part of the commemorative activities of the First Round the World. The cantata “Juan Sebastián Elcano”, composed by Gabriel Loidi for choir, wind quintet, percussion and narrator, tells the story of this first circumnavigation of the earth. 

The journey, begun by Ferdinand Magellan in September 1519 under the Spanish flag, with the intention of seeking an alternative route to the spice islands, was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano in September 1522. The choir and the wind ensemble they alternate with the narrator and express exciting moments of the story: the farewell, the waiting, the distrust, the betrayal, the fear, the hunger, the death, the persecution, the return or the victory. The work consists of two parts of forty minutes each. 

The concert is organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Royal Theater Foundation, with the support of AC/E.
