Carlos Checa at the Fundación Musical Simón Bolivar

Carlos Checa started out as an orchestra conductor at the age of 17, encouraged by the maestro  Francesc Llongueres. Years later he earned a diploma from the music conservatory in Barcelona, his native city, obtaining the highest qualifications under the maestro Albert Argudo. He also specialised in composition, instrumentation and music teaching, studied piano, oboe and violin and furthered his training with maestros Kurt Masur, Antoni Ros Marbà and George Phelivanian.
He made his debut at London’s Cadogan Hall conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has conducted the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra of Bydgoszcz in Poland, and has been active in Latin America with orchestras such as the National Symphonic Orchestra of Costa Rica, the National Symphonic Orchestra of Peru, the Symphonic Orchestra of Xalapa (Mexico) and the Symphonic Orchestra of Mendoza (Argentina).

In 2014 Carlos Checa has been invited by the Fundación Musical Simón Bolívar, and personally by the maestro Gustavo Dudamel, to make his debut in Venezuela, with the collaboration of AC/E through the mobility awards.
