Valentina Alvarado Matos is the artist selected for the artistic residency for audiovisual creation at LIFT (Toronto, Canada) during 6 weeks from February to March 2020 to create an audiovisual piece shot in analog format (35mm, 16mm, Super 16mm, 8mm or Super 8mm).
Through a multidisciplinary artistic practice, Valentina Alvarado (Maracaibo, 1986) explores the hybridization of the various artistic languages she uses -collage, ceramics, photography and analogical film- to elaborate discourses linked to memory and identity unfolded in unfinished geographies. Her work establishes a constant dialogue between the digital and analogical where the poetic and the political are an important part of her artistic proposal. She has participated in several collective exhibitions between Maracaibo, Caracas, Barcelona, Berlin, Miami, and London.
Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) co-organizes this third edition of the programme of artistic residencies together with (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico and LIFT-Liaison of Independent Filmmakers that will take place in Lift's facilities at Toronto for the production of an audiovisual piece shot in analog format (35mm, 16mm, Super 16mm, 8mm or Super 8mm).
