APERTURA 2013

APERTURA 2013

The event APERTURA, organised annually by Arte_Madrid, is a ‘celebration for art and culture’. Every September the galleries belonging to the Association mark the start of the artistic season with the joint opening of their exhibitions and an extensive programme of activities, visits to museums and collections, meetings and festivities along the lines of the events held in other major international centres, such as Gallery Weekend in Berlin and New York. Every year APERTURA attracts collectors, experts and curators from all over the world. For this event the art galleries belonging to Arte_Madrid choose the best from among their Spanish and international artists, both accomplished and up-and-coming.

This year’s fair is continuing along the path already embarked on with a programme of guided tours of galleries, private collections and museums, etc., to which a group of international advisors and museum trustees are invited, in addition to national and international collectors. It is a major group effort that seeks greater recognition for artists and galleries.

AC/E is collaborating in this project by supporting the participation of the visitors: Georgia Giaokoumaki (curator, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London), Marina Coelho (founder of the Sao Paolo Kunsthalle ), Juan Gaitán (curator of the Berlin Biennale), Aileen Corkery (curator of Outside Visual Art in Meeting House Square and Studio Voltaire and advisor, London), Joelle Romba (director and founder of Romba Fine Arts) and Alistair Hicks (curator and advisor of the Deutsche Bank).
