The Orquesta Joven del Bicentenario (Bicentenary Youth Orchestra) continues its programme of concerts within the context of the Time of Change season, organised by the Consorcio para la Conmemoración de la Constitución de 1812 (Consortium for the Celebration of the Bicentenary of the Constitution of 1812)and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E). On this occasion it is broadening the geographical scope of its tour, and will be visiting a number of towns all around Andalusia, beginning on 14 January in the province of Córdoba and ending in the city of Cadiz itself on 22 January.
On its journeys around Andalusia, the OJB will be conducted by Alejandro Garrido as it performs ‘El Poeta Calculista’ by Manuel García, ‘Symphony number 103’ by Haydn and ‘Symphony number 5’ by Beethoven.
The OJB, which is made up of some forty young musicians aged between 13 and 21, chosen for their great musical talent from among all the conservatories in the province of Cadiz, aims to showcase music from the age of the Cortes Gaditanas (Cadiz Parliament), presenting the era to audiences through the classical works written two hundred years ago to the delight of the country at a time when liberty, reason and debate reigned supreme.
