Poznan Biennial. Alejandro Vidal

150 artists will present their work in all programmes and centres at the third edition of Mediations Biennale entitled "The unknown". Four curators will oversee the programme of the event (Denise Carvalho, Friedhelm Mennekes, Fumio Nanjo, Tomasz Wendland)

Alejandro Vidal was invited to participate in the third edition of Mediations Biennale by Denise Carvalho. Vidal is a creator of video works, photography and drawings. In his works, he touches upon topics of social conflicts, violence, terror and power mechanisms. He makes references to the concepts of globalisation and political manipulation. The work entitled "Firestorm" is a cinematic compilation of spectacular displays of fireworks. The footage was collected from  various different Internet portals. The edited material was juxtaposed with sounds from war zones: sounds of exploding bombs and guns firing. In his earlier works, the artist used recorded films in poetics of 80s cult films. He examined in them the behaviour and rituals of various subcultures.
