The 1930s was a turbulent decade, with the rise of totalitarian governments and constant migration of artists in a social, economic and political setting very much marked by the utopian dreams and the agitation of the moment. This exhibition presents the decade not through propagandistic narratives (although they are an essential characteristic of the 1930s), but through the fact that artists had to define their own path in an atmosphere of increasing violence. The central part of the exhibition is an analysis of the trailblazing carried out by artists in interpersonal and international relationships as the driving force behind artistic production.
