Dismantlings, Re/appropriations and Intrusions. Art Tactics on the Network

The touring exhibition Dismantlings, Re/appropriations and Intrusions. Art Tactics on the Network is presented as a mobile laboratory that seeks to redefine the practice of network art. It comprises creators from all around the world and is characterised by the participation of numerous Latin American artists.

The selection of works is part of the MEIAC’s NETescopio project and springs from a reflection on the processes that led the artists to create them.

Three working lines have been identified:
Dismantlings focuses on productions emerged in the web’s early years and which played with their peculiarities in regard of the strategies that gradually defined the lines of production during the early years of network art.
Re/appropriations shows the networks’ recurrent practice of appropriating and reusing symbolic materials.
Intrusions presents proposals that consist in an artistic intervention in a new public space: the internet.

A series of round tables complete the project; spaces for exchange and reflection with the participation of artists and theoreticians from the different places it tours.

Likewise, it will be included as part of the programme of activities of the 5th Iberoamerican Culture Conference due to be held in Saragossa ifrom 20 to 22 November 2013.
