19 CRAC Centre Régional d'art Contemporain de Montbéliard is an art centre which supports and disseminates contemporary art through exhibitions, publications and funding for artistic production. One of its main objectives is to raise awareness of contemporary art, especially among young people. The institution stages four exhibitions each year, which enable visitors to discover artists from a variety of backgrounds and countries, both well-established and emerging names. It also organises meetings and music and choreographic sessions in connection with the exhibitions.
In 2016 they have put together an exhibition entitled “Zone Troubles” featuring a combination of videos, photography, installations and drawings by four artists who examine issues related to the economic crisis and social themes. The works on show explore areas of our society with problems linked to the three major crises of the twenty-first century: immigration, the environment and the economy. The artists examine these three tragic aspects of our everyday life poetically, ironically and humorously. AC/E is supporting the participation of the Spanish artist Karmelo Bermejo, who will present his new video on the social crisis. It takes a look at the boundaries between the economy and the economy of art through a recording of the firework show marking the end of Art Basel Miami.
