Asociación Cultural de Artes Musicales Romanza (Romanza cultural association of musical arts) is presenting in Lima the famous zarzuela Doña Francisquita by Spanish composer Amadeo Vives with a libretto by Romero and Fernández, which is returning to Lima after 10 years. It is the most important zarzuela on account of its structure, the beauty of its music and its density. Doña Francisquita is among Lima audiences’ favourite operettas and Romanza is working intensely on an absolutely new production that brings together more than 100 people on the stage and features, in addition to the main characters, the student music group of San Martín de Porres University, Spanish dance groups, carnival troupes and children’s choirs.
The musical director of this production is Spaniard Oliver Díaz, who enjoys the support of AC/E’s Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture. Asociación Romanza took part as a guest in the zarzuela sessions organised by Fundación Guerrero in the city of Cuenca, which also enjoyed the support of AC/E through the Visitors grants.
