ZAMAN / الزمان

Zamán (Time is a project of interrelation of the Moroccan and Spanish cultures produced by Arts i love with the collaboration and creation of the company Alicia Soto-Hojarasca under the artistic direction of Alicia Soto. It uses dance, music and audiovisual for a cultural interchange experience. It has the support of AC/E's Mobility grants.

Zaman searcha on rhw  the Moroccan and the Spanish identities, united by time and history, past and present. In a transdisciplinary search, following the imprints stamped on the sand of the times, the past and the present cohabit in a unique way, in the day to day of Morocco. How do Moroccan and Spanish artists come together from different arts, music, dance, theater, and plastic arts in this dichotomy of time? The past and the present, the wild, overwhelming nature of great beauty, nourished by tradition and subject to strong roots. In front of an urban and digital present that fills the daily life of Morocco in a great paradigm.
How do time, movement and art coexist? How is it reflected in the creative act?

In the production of Zaman, Hojarasca is intended to carry out a field research work of Moroccan artists from different fields, with special attention to creative women. From research works on music (Rai, Reggada, Chaabi, modern Moroccan music) and on dance (contemporary dance and breakdance).

In January the laboratories of experimentation, knowledge in the field (Morocco) of musicians, writers, plastic artists, of the most modern and experimental Moroccan culture are built. Taking as starting point all those initiatives that have gone further in researching transdisciplinary shows such as Dabateatr (Rabat, Tangier), Haraka Festival (Tanger, organized by the dancer Ohtman Sellami), Théâtre Aquarium, dance company 2km Casablanca, etc. .

Starting February 15, two research laboratories are organized in Rabat and Casablanca (open call and invitation of actors and breakdance dancers and contemporary dance and musicians). These laboratories will discuss the following topics:

"From the subconscious to reality on stage" for 5 interpreters (dancers, actors / actresses).
This laboratory aims to bridge the gap between somatic work, somatic movement and stage speech, favoring the performer-performer to present himself in its entirety, in an integral way, with all its capabilities.

"In a quest for natural movement and improvisation from the somatic movement"
Its aim is that the individual consciousness of the space, energy and body of the performer joins the power of a group energy creating a unique score of emotions that start from a collective subconscious constructing a dramatic and scenic reality.

During the labs will deepen the fusion of breakdance and contemporary dance languages. A specific work will be done for breakdance dancers, developing techniques of contemporary dance, not only of soil, study of space, rhythm and weight, to move from the urban environment from street to scene. Enhancing the placement of the body and the stage presence.
The research laboratories will be held in l'UZINE (Casablanca) and at the Yacoub Almansour Theater (Rabat).

During the months of March, April and Mayos the show is created and the premiere is scheduled for the end of May 2017.

SYNOPSIS
ZAMAN / الزمان
"The ancestral roots intertwine with a new plant that has grown, right there, near the past, the northern winds brought their seeds.
Here the past and the present are united and coexist
And the wind
Always blows the wind,
The wind that brings bursts, bursts of the present, and mixes with the blasts of the past
And then you think ... that you lose ....
And he draws me pieces of childhood,
I'm no stranger to me,
I will not let myself forget.
And the wind is still blowing, and you think you hear the sea.
The sea, here everything is sea,
The desert is sea.
And as in sandstorms, the ancestors and modernity unite, creating a confusion, and calm comes ....
And if you look closely, you think everything looks the same, but, the dunes are already different, and yes,
Have the same color, but are no longer from the same sand,
Are sands of time.
And you hear the malhoune. "
