Álex Reyes is the writer selected for this residency at the Toji Cultural Foundation in Seoul, which promotes the exchange of writers between Spain and Korea and lasts two months, between September and October 2024.
Álex Reyes (Mexico, 1997) studied Hispanic Literature at the UAM. He has published poetry, short stories and opinion articles in various electronic and print media. He was resident writer of the XXI class of the Antonio Gala Foundation. His first novel “What I Cannot Live” (Distrito 93) will soon be adapted to the theater. His collection of poems, “Luz en retreat”, won the IX Valparaíso Poetry Prize. He currently lives in Madrid.
The residency, which promotes the exchange of writers between Spain and Korea, lasts two months, between September and October 2024, at the Toji Cultural Foundation in Seoul.
This type of residencies allow creators to participate in international collaboration networks, and the organizations that organize them to promote their international mobility, promote national creative production and strengthen links between cultural institutions in Korea and Spain. It is organized by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Toji Cultural Foundation, with the support and participation of the Student Residence.
The objective of the call is for the selected writer to have a suitable residence and work space for two months to continue the development of a literary project already started. It also aims to encourage the resident to establish networks with other creators and have access to the resources that both the Toji Cultural Foundation and the city of Seoul itself offer.

The selection of the jury will be announced on this website and to the beneficiaries at the address they have provided.
All natural persons with the capacity to act and who have their residence or main area of action and creation in Spain, with an accredited literary career, may participate.
The call is addressed to writers:
- Over 18 years.
- Spaniards or foreigners residing in Spain and in possession of a N.I.E.
- They must have published at least one work in a professional publishing house and have, at the time of submitting their application, a literary project in progress (novel, story, essay, poetry, story, theater, etc.)
- Have knowledge of English or Korean, level B1 (European framework).
