Bruno Delgado Ramo (Sevilla, 1991) is the artist selected by the panel of experts to enjoy the Wiels Residency 2019 with the collaboration of AC/E. The WIELS Residency Programme is an international laboratory for emerging artists from all over the world. It forms a key part of the overall programme of WIELS and is one of its core activities. WIELS provides a unique working environment for artists, so that they can pursue their work and participate in current debates and research regarding contemporary art practices. During six months, the residents are offered an individual workspace (+/- 45m2) and a framework designed to facilitate a durable exchange of ideas with the artistic and cultural life of Brussels.
Bruno Delgado Ramo is a filmmaker, researcher and architect whose artistic and academic practice deal with motion pictures. From a wide understanding of image, he studies the collective processes and spatial conditions which cinematographic language and apparatus activate. His interdisciplinary work deals with a site-specific cinema (both fiction and documentary films) and spatial questions in the city. Besides he outlines his projects as investigations based on artistic practice. His work has led to films (from acting to editing), book editions and spatial proposals.
The Residency Programme offers
1. Nine furnished workspaces, available seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day, equipped with running water and Internet access.
2. Weekly collective meetings and individual feedback from artistic mentors Willem Oorebeek, Sylvie Eyberg and Simon Thompson.
3. Logistic, technical and curatorial guidance for the creation and development of projects.
4. Visits to exhibitions and other sites of interest in Belgium and the neighbouring countries.
5. Online presentation of current and former residents and a digital archive of all residency projects.
6. Presentation and production of a project during or shortly after the residency.
