¡Viva! Festival is a venue-wide celebration of Spanish and Latin American culture at HOME, Manchester. They bring a specially selected programme of film, theatre and visual art from across the Spanish-speaking world.
AC/E is covering the travel expenses, through the PICE Mobility grants, of the Spanish guests invited to take part Agrupación Señor Serrano who will be the central part of the ¡Viva! 2019 programme, following their hugely successful appearance in ¡Viva! 2017 with "Birdie" to showcase their new work "Kingdom".This support is aimed at internationalising the performing arts sector by encouraging Spanish companies to take part in fairs and other international sector events.
KINGDOM suggests the identification between the model of capitalist and patriarchal development and the figure of King Kong. Kong and bananas, two totems of the system, two insatiable beasts that need to grow without limits, great devourers of resources, representatives of the patriarchy, icons of masses but, above all, inevitable condemnation of a system that cannot stop growing even if it pushes itself to extinction. Agrupación Señor Serrano is one of the most stimulating and radically original companies today, resulting in a string of deserved awards, such as the Silver Lion of the Venice Biennale 2015 and City of Barcelona Award in 2016.
