This year’s edition of the poetry in schools festival, which started out in 2010, is the 8th. Every year the festival brings together 20,000 people, including children, young people and teachers. Poets, writers, storytellers, visual artists and musicians are invited to take part in these activities, which take place over a two-week period in primary and secondary schools in Argentina.
This year the festival is broadening its activities in the field of the written word. For this purpose it has invited writers, storytellers and publishers to take part in order to work with the Spanish language and its various rhythms, intonations and idioms. They will also be involved in activities designed to promote reading, creative workshops where children and teenagers are encouraged to write their first poems, art and poetry workshops and teaching courses, among others. The 2016 edition will feature more than 100 activities scheduled all over the country in which writers from all over the world will participate.
