The Biennial presents the latest developments with creators who make up the international vanguard of flamenco. It features a colourful palette of all flamenco forms - dance, music, song – and shows flamenco in fresh, exciting alliances with jazz, contemporary dance and music, and in dialogue with other musical cultures.

The seventh edition of the biannual festival that will take place 18 Jan—10 Feb Jan 2019 in 8 Dutch Cities : Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Maastricht, Eindhoven, Amersfoort, Groningen, and two Belgium cities: Antwerp and Gent. This 2019 edition features a new crop of young and fast rising flamenco artists with an open and curious mind, who look beyond the borders of this age old art form and with whom we once again show the latest developments in the genre.

AC/E supports the participation of Accademia del Piacere, Fahmi Alqhai & Ghalia Benali with "Romances Entre Oriente y Occidente / Between East and West".

Accademia del Piacere, has developed under the energetic leadership of its artistic director Fahmi Alqhai into a vanguard group in Spanish early music and into one of the leading ensembles of this kind in Europe. From the outset focused on Renaissance and Baroque music, in Spain in general, and in Andalucía, in particular, the ensemble has been turning away from the well-worn pathways in order to explore new possibilities in terms of presentation and interpretation in its early musical work, for example in the successful collaboration with flamenco singer Arcángel (Las Idas y Vueltas). In Romances, Between East and West, the group together with Tunesian singer Ghalia Benali embarks on a journey to the old musical melting pot Al-Ándaluz, were Arabic, Christian and Southamerican music retro-alimented each other, to reveal the oriental origins of flamenco.
