Vienna Accordion Festival 2017

Vienna Accordion Festival 2017

The Vienna Accordion Festival brings together the most celebrated international accordionists each year. It is a very popular festival in the city as it focuses on an instrument with deep roots in Austrian culture. In 1829 the accordion was invented in Vienna and since that date has been closely linked to this city and the country's musical culture.

The Festival celebrates its XVIII edition in 2017 and Spain is the guest country, to the point that the motto of this edition is "Qué Viva España!". AC/E supports the participation of four groups of Spanish accordionists. These groups fuse the sounds of the accordion with the freshness of popular culture and the harmonies of some Spanish regional music not exempt from a postmodern reading. His proposals have been very much to the direction of the Festival since it is an innovative product in the international accordion scene. Within the Festival there are concerts of different types of music, from jazz to experimental music. These Spanish groups offer a key opportunity to bring Spanish music closer to the Austrian public.
