Varaždin Baroque Evenings is a classical music festival held annually in late September and in early October in the city of Varaždin, Croatia. VBE, first held in 1971, up to now evolved in the festival of national importance declared by the Croatian Ministry of Culture. They are also under the permanent patronage of President of the Republic of Croatia. Since 2007. Varaždin Baroque Evenings have partner country, last year it was French Republic, and this, 2016 year it will be Spain.
46th VBE is dedicated to reviving Spanish early music, gastronomy, tradition, horticulture etc. Music part, which is in the focus of the festival, involves concerts of great Spanish artists: Jordi Savall, Raquel Andauza & La Galania, La Ritirata, La Tercia Realidad, Le Tendre Amour etc. All of them held in ecclesiastical and other ambient venues, with a total lasting of 12 days.
AC/E supports the participation of La Ritirata with "The Cervantes Operas" by Antonio Caldara - grand opening (September 23); Le Tendre Amour with comic baroque opera (September 24); Raquel Andueza & La Galania with "Yo soy la Locura 2" (September 25); More Hispano with Vincente Pariila Trio, accompanied by baroque coffee (September 27); La Tercia Realidad trio with flamenco dancer with program named "Duende" (September 28); La Tempestad with theatrical Scarlatti and Juan Oliver y Astorga program (September 29), accompanied by soprano. Combining these concert themes, VBE audience will have an opportunity to familiarize with Spanish cultural heritage - classical, traditional and modern, with a focus on baroque.
