Titirifestival Manicomio de Muñecos

Titirifestival Manicomio de Muñecos

The Titirifestival in Medellín is held every year and has been organised by Manicomio de Muñecos since 2002. Its principal aims are to foster the appreciation of and promote puppet shows, on the one hand, and, on the other, to instruct people in this art. For ten days the groups meet in the Sala de Títeres of Manicomio de Muñecos and various other venues in the city to bring the world of puppets closer to all types of viewers.

AC/E supports the presence at the festival of one of Spain’s most important puppet theatre companies, Periferia Teatro, with its performance of Guyi-Guyi.  Periferia Teatro, directed by Juan Manuel Quiñonero, has been conducting research and furthering knowledge of puppet theatre since 1989. It writes and composes the music for its own productions, which allows it to combine reflexion and entertainment with new themes that concern children of today. It has taken part in national and international festivals with its latest production, Guyi-Guyi, and has won many prizes.
