The Longest Voyage (Documentary)

This documentary narrates the first trip around the world carried out by the Magallanes-Elcano expedition between 1519 and 1522 with a unique visual style that combines animated scenes with archival images, filming of real scenes and interviews with historians and scientists.

Manuel H. Martín is the director and has written the script together with Antonio Fernández-Torres. The production is in charge of Olmo Figueredo González-Quevedo for La Claqueta PC and La Cruda Realidad, Ricardo Ramón for Dibulitoon Studio and José Amaral for SPI (Portugal). In production associated with Tannhauser Estudio.
It also has the participation of RTVE, EiTB, and RTP (Portugal), with the support of the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, the Basque Government, the Guipúzcoa Provincial Council, ICAA, ICA (Seville) and Acción Cultural Española.
 
Synopsis

500 years ago, Magellan and Elcano embarked on a dangerous maritime adventure. The commercial expedition to find new trade routes ended up becoming the first round the world. 50 years ago, humanity reached the Moon. The two trips opened new horizons for discovery, of our planet and of space. A look at humanity's journey into the unknown, between two different eras with a common human and technological challenge.
