That (any) object is a group exhibition on the art object and its ability to act as an object of mediation. This topic is actually not as highly generic, ambiguous and ambitious as it might seem, as it focuses on the sculptural form and its transformation from sculpture into functional object and back into sculpture through abstraction, establishing a vicious circle.
The exhibition explores the ability of certain building materials to form part of a network of relations (contemplation, action, use and transformation), where they act as a catalyst. Through newly commissioned works, the exhibition curator Pablo Lafuente, editor in chief of Afterall magazine, brings together different artists along with pre-existing works and a number of international artists such as Asger Jorn, Vincent Fecteau and Ricardo Valentim. Basque artist Asier Mendizábal is also taking part in the event with the support of the mobility grants awarded by AC/E under the PICE.
