Founded in 2003, the Terras sem Sombra Sacred Music Festival of the Baixo Alentejo (FTSS) is an initiative of the department of historic and artistic heritage of the diocese of Beja and offers a high-quality international programme. The festival is held in various historic churches of the Baixo Alentejo region, enhancing appreciation of the region’s religious monuments.
FTSS places special emphasis on relations with Spain. Its international programme features lectures, concerts, visits and artistic performances and is aimed at establishing a dialogue between the historical heritage of the past and contemporary creation.
The festival enjoys the support of AC/E, which has facilitated the participation of the Spanish artists Carlos Mena, Vicente Ombuena Valls, Carlos Garcia-Bernalt and Juan Carlos Rivera Pecellín through the Mobility grants.
