Surge Madrid 2014

The Madrid region has started up the Surge Madrid, creation in the Madrid performing arts festival, which is designed to promote creativity in the performing arts in alternative, smaller venues.

The festival, curated by Alberto García and Natalia Ortega, will take place in Madrid from 7 to 31 May and will feature a varied offering of all genres consisting of more than 444 performances, including 93 absolute premieres.

The Ventana del Teatro (Window on Theatre) has been organised in connection with the festival and will feature a selection of the most significant shows recently produced in Madrid. La Ventana, directed by author and playwright Dario Facal, will allow international programmers to enjoy 19 complete shows staged by accomplished theatre groups.
 
AC/E is collaborating on the Ventana del Teatro organised in connection with the festival through the PICE visitor grants by inviting 10 international programmers from prestigious international institutions such as Buenos Aires International Festival (Argentina),  Pernambuco International Festival (Brazil), Festival D-Caf (Egypt), Festival Under the Radar (USA),Israel Festival (Israel), Edinburgh Festival (United Kingdom) , Lift Festival (England), Lima Performing Arts Festival (Peru) , FUNDarte Miami (USA) and Theatre de la Ville (France).
