The purpose of the Spanisches Filmfest Berlin (SFFB) is to promote Spanish cinema in its various expressions. The festival focuses above all on modern Spanish films and new Spanish filmmakers and actors. In Germany little attention is paid to Spanish films except for those of Pedro Almodóvar. German audiences are therefore unaware of the many films that cover a whole range of genres and issues and are missing out the original stories they tell. The Spanisches Filmfest Berlin pays special attention to the quality of the productions and showcases the broad variety of film genres as well as the new dramatic, aesthetic and narrative trends in Spanish cinema.
