Spain NOW! 2014

Spain NOW! 2014

The 6th Annual Season for Contemporary Spanish Art and Culture in London takes place 9th October – 25th November.

AC/E collaborates in this edition supporting the launch of two works of contemporary fiction in brand new English translations by authors Nicolás Casariego y Pedro Zarraluki in Hispabooks. This will be held at the London Review Bookshop in Bloomsbury. The authors will be joined by Samantha Schnee - founding editor of Words without Borders – who will inspire the conversation around this year's theme of humour in contemporary Spanish fiction.

Winner of the Silver Lion at this year's Venice Biennale, New York-based architect and theorist Andrés Jaque opens the season on the 9th of October asking "What are the borders of architecture?" "How does it evolve to meet the challenges of the city?" "How does it connect and communicate with society?".

One of Spain NOW! 2014 highlights takes place in mid-October in collaboration with the prestigious photography festival PhotoEspaña, with an exhibition by the photographer Ricky Dávila at the12 Star Gallery in Westminster.

The closing event of Spain NOW! 2014 will take place on 24-25th November at Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells, with the performance of Provisional Landscapes by AVA Dance Company including the premieres of the pieces Balikbayan and Foreign Bodies.
