Semana de Música Avanzada (Advanced music week, SMA) is an annual visual arts and music festival that takes place in Guatemala City. Its main purpose is to inspire musical creativity through workshops, lectures, sessions, film, exhibitions and celebrations with artists of Central America and international guest artists. It focuses on emerging musicians who use computerised production programmes.
The following people are taking part in this year’s festival with the collaboration of AC/E:
Albert Salinas, who goes by the name of Wooky DJ and has a track record of more than ten years on the Spanish scene, explores the more human emotional side of electronic music.
Santiago Ferrer, Xpansul DJ started out in Madrid in 1993 and since then he has played at nearly all the world’s most important clubs and festivals. He has been resident DJ at two main clubs on Madrid’s electronic music scene: Soma Experimental Club, where he turned professional and where he shaped his style and character as a DJ; and Coppelia 101, a major name in new techno sound of the early twenty-first century.
Pedro Pina, Pina DJ has recorded a brilliant album entitled ‘Hum’, his third.
