The 15th Getxo comic fair includes a commercial area aimed at publishers, sellers, organisations and fanzines in all sectors related to the world of comics. It also features an extensive activity programme of screenings, publishers’ presentations, signings by guest artists, roundtables and workshops.
This year’s edition pays tribute to the Argentine artist Juan Giménez, one of the big names in science-fiction strip cartoons, as well as to the veteran comic strip artist Zulet.
Through its Visitors grants, AC/E is supporting the presence of US publishers Eric Reynolds of Fantagraphics Comics and Eric Stephenson of Image Comics. As side events, several exhibitions are being held both inside the marquee and at other venues capable of catering to a larger number of visitors of all kinds. Prominent among them is Las Meninas’, a show featuring original drawings from the graphic novel by Santiago García and Javier Olivares, which received the prize for the best Spanish work at this year’s international comic fair in Barcelona and recently earned both authors the National Comic Strip Award.
