RIFF 2018, Reykjavik International Film Festival

The 15th edition of the Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF), takes place from September 27th until October 7th and it  showcases the most outstanding cinematic works of the highlighted country and share them with their eager Icelandic and international audience. screens a wide variety of independent films from around the world every year, offering an alternative to the mass-produced film industry that otherwise dominates Icelandic cinemas. The festival has already established itself on the film festival circuit and is focused on being a fountain of knowledge for Icelandic film culture and film studies. During the festival, seminars and courses will be offered introducing important local as well as foreign filmmakers and film specialists.

Reykjavik International Film Festival is one of the biggest and most diverse cultural events in Iceland. For eleven days every Fall since 2004, Icelandic locals, film lovers and tourists alike are able to go to the cinema and enjoy the best and freshest of the international film panorama. The festival highlights independent film making from all over the world with an emphasis on up-and-coming filmmakers, with the main prize – the Golden Puffin, being awarded to first and second time directors.
