Fernando García Dory is one of the artists invited to make the research and production residency at the CIBNOR. For this, it has the support of AC/E through the PICE mobility grants. During the residency the artist focuses his research on Climate Change in Arid Zones. He also has access to the use of laboratories within CIBNOR, as well as the technology used by the center. In parallel, he can visit the areas where field practices are carried out, related to the research. For the public presentation, the artist exhibits his production and participates in a talk with a scientist to share with the general public his experiences and to reflect on the encounter between the arts and sciences.
Laboratorio Brecha is a project of artistic residences in the Center for Biological Research of the Northwest (CIBNOR). Placing artists and scientists together within the scientific context, the programme fosters new approaches to research, experimentation and artistic production. In addition, to question and analyze how art and culture can form new visions of a highly specialized environment and what common bases can be shared between art and science.
This is the first edition of the collaboration programme between Laboratorio Brecha and CIBNOR. This first edition has as main axis two lines of research: Climate change in arid zones and Conservation and Protection of protected natural areas. The collaboration agreement includes three editions in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
