Residency JA.CA 2020. Alba Folgado

With the support of the Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), throught its ‘Programa para la Internacionalización de la Cultura Española (PICE)’, in the form of’ ‘Movilidad’, JA.CA receives, in March 2020, the spanish curator Alba Folgado, based in Uppsala (Sweden).

Her practice explores the visual narratives of urban struggles and the social agency of performative practices. Currently she is researching how structures that rule contemporary cities affect people’s lives, and what responses artists and activists develop to challenge their physical and social boundaries.

Folgado holds a MA in Curating from the Royal College of Art, London and a BA in Fine Arts from the University Complutense of Madrid. In 2016 and 2017 she was awarded with Botin Foundation grant for curatorial studies. She has worked in collaboration with Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Madrid, and Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam.
