Agnès Hayden is the author of LATITUDE MESH, the winning project of this seventh edition of BAICC – International Artistic Residencies for Cinematographic Creation 2023. The evaluation committee made up of a representative of each of the three entities responsible for the call, AC/E – Acción Cultural Española, (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico de A Coruña and Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto - LIFT, has decided that this proposal should be selected to be developed for five weeks between September and October 2023 in Toronto (Canada).
LATITUDE MESH is a project that focuses attention on photochemical emulsions, their characteristics and possibilities, with homemade or DIY preparations as the central axis. In it, Hayden proposes the investigation of different emulsions. The film would build a topographic map, assigning emulsions to different areas of Toronto, by latitude (film latitude / terrestrial latitude), tracing the city's diaristic and affectionate geography. Films in constant metamorphosis. Emulsions that dialogue and at the same time fragment, and that allows us to continue exploring our own cinematographic language.
The result of this residence can be seen at the premiere during the next edition of the (S8) XV Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico in June 2024, in A Coruña.
(S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico, Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) organize this residence with the aim of continuing a line of work that seeks to open new paths for emerging creators, facilitating the creation of exchange ties with an institution of international relevance as LIFT-Liaison of Independent Filmmakers.
The residency aims to produce an audiovisual piece shot in analogue format (35mm, 16mm, Super 16mm, 8mm or Super 8mm) in Toronto (Canada) for 4 to 6 uninterrupted weeks, between 15 September and 31 October 2023 at the facilities of LIFT in Toronto.
