The Spanoisseries cycle is designed to promote the Spanish musical heritage in Austria through an exclusive selection of programmes with a marked Spanish and Latin American identity. It brings together different styles: classical and contemporary music, ancient music, jazz and world music, especially flamenco due to its continuous evolution
AC/E supports Accademia del Piacere who will perform in the Mozart hall at the Wiener Konzerthaus in Austria on February 1, led by the renowned violamba player Fahmi Alqhai. Also on February 2 they will perform at the Church of the Jesuits. They will perform two different programmes in these two venues: 'Rediscovering Spain at the Mozart room' of the Wiener Konzerthaus and 'Dialogues of old and new sounds' in the church of the Jesuits.
The concerts are organized by the cultural platform DICE (diffusion of Spanish culture) based in Vienna and dedicated since its foundation in 2002 to spread the Spanish music of all times and in all its styles, as well as to consolidate the presence and visibility of the Spanish artists on international stages.
In the first programme, the Accademia seeks to recover the practice of Hispanic instrumental and musical reading of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, focusing on the pure creation and interpretation according to true historicist criteria.
'In Dialogues of old and new sounds', Rocío Márquez, one of the most surprising voices of contemporary flamenco, and Fahmi Alqhai, one of the world's best performers of viola de gamba, intertwine their art to face the challenge of finding a common path between sing flamenco and baroque music, looking for the points of union of today's live cantes with their origins.
Arcángel and Fahmi Alqhai are considered the leading lights of a new generation of flamenco vocalists and Early Music, respectively. These inspired souls have set their minds to walk up the still-unexplored paths that result of the fertile combination of flamenco and Baroque music. Accademia del Piacere ist the most renowed ensemble of the new generation – as young as shocking – of Spanish early music.
