YCE Awards. Spain 2014

Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the British Council have announced the Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) Awards 2014 for professionals from the Spanish creative sector aged between 21 and 35. With these awards, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the British Council, international organisation from the United Kingdom for cultural and educational relations, intend to reward the people who are designing our creative future, trying out new models and making a positive economic and social impact in their local arena.

The YCE Awards wish to identify these emerging leaders in the field of creativity and support their internationalisation through professional contacts with the United Kingdom. During 2014 five YCE Awards will be given in the categories of digital publishing, live music, cultural management, audiovisual production and finally design and fashion. The winners of each category will be given a unique opportunity to work with the most outstanding professionals from the British creative industry for a week of meetings, festivals and workshops at prestigious events like the London Book Fair, the Great Escape Festival, REMIX Summit, the Edinburgh International TV Festival and the London Design Festival.

This first round will be looking to identify the best creative entrepreneurs in the sectors of digital publishing, live music and cultural management. To take part the candidates must be Spanish residents aged between 21 and 35 years old at the time of entry; should have at least two years of experience managing their own company or organisation in Spain; have proven skill in promoting and boosting the creative sectors in their own country in both the public and private sectors; be able to prove their capacity as a future creative leader in their sector and an essential partner for the United Kingdom and with an English level of at least IELTS 6 – competent user.

The candidates have until 10 pm (Spanish peninsula time) on 28 February to complete their online candidacy. Participants can send any questions to arts@britishcouncil.es

About the YCE Awards The Young Creative Entrepreneur programme was started by the British Council in 2004 and to date has brought together close to 3000 British professionals to advise over 400 creative leaders from 51 countries. In 2014 Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) has joined the organisation of these prestigious awards to help the international mobility of Spanish creators and entrepreneurs in a key sector for our country’s economy. Creative industries count for an increasing part of the European productive activity and represent 4% of the Spanish GDP, 6% of the British GDP and generate 750,000 jobs in Spain and over 2 million in the United Kingdom.
