For its debut performance at Prague Spring, the ensemble Al Ayre Español (its name is derived from a work by the Aragonese composer Gaspar Sanz) has selected repertoire for the interpretation of which it has traditionally been the most recognized, namely Baroque music. The ensemble has been performing Baroque works since its founding in 1988, and it is the goal of all of the ensemble’s players and of its founder and artistic director Eduardo López Banzo to offer this music to listeners in the form in which its creators would have had the opportunity of hearing. In collaboration with the outstanding Spanish soprano Raquel Andueza, in Prague, he will be presenting works by leading Spanish Baroque composers such as José de Torres (1670-1738) and Joan Cabanillas (1644-1712).
