The Palm Springs International Film Festival is one of the most highly respected and one of best attended festivals in the U.S., annually welcoming an audience of 135,000+. Its artistically rich and culturally diverse programming includes 190± live action, documentary and animated films from 65+ countries, including the greatest number of Best Foreign Language Oscar® submissions of any festival in the world.
AC/E supports the participation of Spanish filmakers to present their works which will be included in the Cine Latino showcase and may be included in one or more juried competitions, e.g., New Voices/New Visions for debut films, the John Schlesinger Award for Best Documentary and the prestigious FIPRESCI critics’ awards.
This “festival within a festival” of 20-30 exclusively Ibero-American films is hugely popular with their audience of world cinema enthusiasts who seek out the passionate characters and extraordinary stories that characterize Spanish films. Each Spanish film in the Cine Latino showcase will screen a minimum of twice and possibly three times. After each screening of the films there will be an intimate Q&A with the director and the audience.
