Pablo Sanz Composer-in-Residence at VICC (Visby International Centre for Composers) 2018

Visby International Centre for Composers (VICC) is a work and meeting place for composers around the world regardless of genre. Since 2001, the VICC Composer-in-Residence Program offers composers a focussed creative environment for composing new work.

The Spanish sound artist Pablo Sanz has been invited to be Composer-in-Residence at VICC’with AC/E's support during four weeks in Sep/Oct 2018. During his residency, Pablo will create new works based on environmental sound recordings from his ongoing personal archive, taking advantage of the possibilities of the state-of-the-art Studio Alpha.  His works explores sensory ‘attunements’ with non-human and aural entities, with a focus on phenomena in the periphery of human perception, including frequencies beyond our hearing range, hidden acoustic spaces, overheard and unnoticed sounds. The outcomes of his residency will be manifested in upcoming immersive multi-channel concerts and in a release for intimate headphone listening. During the residency, Pablo will also engage with Gotland´s territory, making environmental sound recordings in the island, and participating in presentations and exchanges with other guest composers and the local community in Visby.
